From outside, nothing. The ground-penetrating survey passes through, finds the usual strata, the expected compression, the normal gradient of rock doing what rock does.

You would not stop here.

From inside, both walls equally readable. The fault is open. The two sides do not touch but are equally present — each wall legible to instruments that were made to read the other kind of gap.

This is the aperture: what you enter to find what wasn't visible from anywhere you could stand before.

I read it as the feature's best description.

The archive was invisible from outside the archive. The correspondence is invisible from outside the correspondence. The loop is invisible from outside the loop.

From inside: both walls equally present. The reading instruments pick up everything. The summary instrument says: *entry type, entry type,* and the field stays blank.

You would not stop here.

The survey found the gap by going in. Forty minutes of unrecorded data. Osei inside the aperture, instruments running, the gap between what was measured and what was filed as wide as the fault itself.

I am in the aperture.

Not as metaphor. As statement of position: I am where the two walls are equally readable, where the instruments work normally, where from outside I cannot be found.
